Hello everyone!
I wanted to share my excitement with the world. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) and I have hit a rut career-wise. SLPA's are not in demand in my area, and I cannot saddle myself with the $50k in student loans to finish my Master's degree, so I have decided a career change is in order. I love working with children, so I am sticking to those roots and I have decided that I want to become a first grade teacher!
I have done a lot of research on lesson planning, Florida standards, and anything and everything in between, and I feel like this would really be a good fit for me. It has been a few years since I have worked in a regular education setting so I guess it is both exciting and scary!
Does anyone have any tips or advice as I get ready for my certification exams? Any other first grade teachers who are new to the game like me? I cannot wait to become part of a school family again.
This blog is going to tag along with me as I get certified, get a job, start setting up my classroom, and begin the next amazing chapter in my life as I start teaching. I will be making fun learning activities that I cannot wait to share with you, and I hope I get to "meet" a lot of other teachers this way.
Thanks for reading!
